Quad City Die Casting To Close

Updated:

Quad City Die Casting Company in Moline is closing the plant in Moline on July 12th. A letter was sent to employees over the weekend, informing them about the plant closing. The letter indicates that the closing will be permanent.

Quad City Die Casting makes aluminum die castings and other castings for several companies including Kawasaki. Dozens of people will lose their jobs. Several of the employees are members of the United Electrical, Radio and Machine Workers of America.

The company did lay off people earlier in the year. We're told the company also asked union employees to agree to a ten percent cut in pay. The union did not. Now some employees say they would consider concessions if that would help to keep the company open.

On average, the jobs at Quad City Die Casting Company pay about sixteen dollars an hour.
