Sandy Ingram is a survivor. A breast cancer survivor.
The 62 year old woman from Long Grove is unemployed. In January, her job was eliminated during a downsizing. Sandy was able to keep her insurance coverage until next July. However, after that, she is not sure what will happen.
The irony is that she has the money to pay for health insurance. However, because of her pre-existing medical condition, Sandy says companies will not insure her.
She is hoping that Congress will pass legislation which will make health care affordable and accessible to people with pre-existing medical conditions.
Sandy says she had no clue she'd ever be out of work. She certainly hopes that she will never be without health insurance.
