A recount is underway challenging the results of last week's primary election in Davenport.
3rd Ward Alderman Bill Boom handily won the right to run in the general election with 190 votes. But the race for his challenger was extremely close, with Paul Vasquez winning by 58 votes to Michael Elliott's 57 votes.
Elliott requested a recount. On Monday in the Scott County board room, they looked over ballots from the October 6th primary election. Scott County Auditor Roxanna Moritz explains you can review the ballots in several different ways, "But what they are requesting of us today is that we tabulate them each by hand and then we run them through the tabulator, again," Moritz said.
UPDATE: The recount is over and the result is the same. The one vote margin did not change after the recount. That means Paul Vasquez will face Bill Boom in the November 3rd election.
