DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Former New York Gov. George Pataki will return to Iowa next month to raise money for local Republicans.
Brian Kennedy, finance director for the Scott County Republican Party, says Pataki will be the headline speaker at a fundraiser for the eastern Iowa organization on Nov. 10 in Bettendorf.
Pataki's visit could fuel speculation that he's interested in making a run for the Republican Party's presidential nomination in 2012. He spent a lot of time in Iowa during the last presidential election cycle but opted not to seek the nomination.
He's among many potential GOP candidates who have visited Iowa, where caucuses leadoff the nominating process. Pataki's visit will come just three days after Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty, also mentioned as a possible candidate, speaks at an event in Des Moines.
