BELLEVILLE, Ill. (AP) - A homeless woman who fatally collapsed while in Belleville police custody last week was well known to local authorities, having piled up more than five dozen arrests since 2004.
Police don't suspect foul play in the death last Friday of 38-year-old Sunny Swanson. She died a day after her arrest for suspected trespassing inside a vacant house.
Authorities say an autopsy was inconclusive, and toxicology tests are pending.
Swanson's 63 arrests over the past five years in St. Clair County include at least 16 convictions, all for misdemeanors or violations of city ordinances related to public intoxication or trespassing.
Swanson's funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Mount Carmel Peace Chapel in Belleville. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Belleville.
