EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) - The second of 2 Ohio men involved in a chase and shots being fired at a southwestern Illinois sheriff's deputy is headed to prison.
A Madison County judge sentenced 20-year-old Michael Gilb of Amelia, Ohio, to 25 years behind bars. Gilb pleaded guilty in August to attempted murder.
Authorities say Gilb shot at a sheriff's deputy who tried to stop the stolen car. The deputy wasn't seriously injured.
Authorities say the confrontation later involved a chase.
A co-defendant, 20-year-old Simeon Moutafov (moo-TAH'-fov) of New Richmond, Ohio, was sentenced in September to 19 years in prison. He pleaded guilty to aggravated battery with a firearm and aggravated fleeing and attempting to elude an officer.
