TV-6 has confirmed that there has been an H1N1 flu-related death in the Quad Cities.
The Illinois Department of Public Health says a person in Rock Island County died a few weeks ago of complications from the flu virus.
Theresa Foes of the Rock Island County Health Department says it was an elderly person, over the age of 65, who had "other" medical conditions that contributed to the death. She added that 13 people have been hospitalized in Rock Island County with the H1N1 virus.
Six people died in Illinois after contracting the H1N1 flu just this past week, bringing the total number of deaths in the state to 28.
Two more Iowa residents have died of complications from H1N1 flu. A spokeswoman for the Iowa Department of Public Health says the deaths happened in Marion and Mahaska counties within the past two weeks. Both involved people who had other chronic health issues.
There are now 6 H1N1-related deaths in Iowa.
