The popular country music star, Taylor Swift, is coming to the Quad Cities. Tickets are scheduled to be released this week, but the big question is whether you'll be able to buy any.
"I don't even know if there's 2000 left," according to Brittney Folland. She helps run the Ticketmaster outlet, located at the West Kimberly Hy Vee Store in Davenport. She says the May 8th concert featuring Taylor Swift and Kellie Pickler has been generating a lot of buzz, but it could also generate a lot of disappointment.
Folland says a number of tickets have been dedicated to local businesses, corporate sponsors and fan club pre-sales. When general ticket sales start, she says the pickings will be slim. Just a small percentage of the seats at the iwireless Center in Moline will actually be for sale.
There were similar concerns in August of 2007, when tickets for a Quad City concert by Miley Cyrus, also known as Hanna Montana, went on sale. The show sold out in minutes as it did at other venues across the country. At the time, ticket brokers and scalpers were accused of scooping-up most of the tickets and then re-selling them at inflated prices.
The general sale for Taylor Swift tickets starts Friday, November 6th at 10:00 a.m. with a six ticket limit.
UPDATE: By Friday morning, tickets at the iwireless Center and Tickemaster were gone.
