Braley In Q.C. After Health Care Reform Vote

Updated:

Iowa First District Congressman Bruce Braley voted in support of the U. S. House of Representatives version of health care reform. During a stop at Eisenhower Elementary School in Davenport Monday, Braley said for 32 million Americans who have no health insurance or have to buy it on their own, the bill is the right thing to do.

Braley was at the school to promote flu prevention among school kids. He later met with hospital administrators in Bettendorf and Clinton to discuss Medicare reimbursement reforms included in the Health Care for America Act.

The bill also includes a government health insurance plan. Braley says the bill will allow people to obtain health care who do not have it now. It will allow children to stay on their parent's policy until the age of 27. Braley also thinks that the house bill will create more competition among insurance providers.

The house version would also prevent insurance companies from denying coverage to a person with a pre-existing medical condition.  The bill now goes to the Senate where several politicians predict it will be dead on arrival.
