Hundreds gathered at the River Music Experience on Saturday for a musical coffeehouse to support the arts.
Eight acts played a special concert to benefit the Thurgood Marshall Learning Center. All proceeds will go to start an arts program at the school, something it doesn't currently have because of budget concerns.
"We think that this is the thing that is the key to getting our students to come, to graduate and to be important members of our community," says Linda Golden, a teacher at Thurgood Marshall.
Golden the school expects to raise more than $3,000 from the concert.
