You may have noticed a greater police presence outside the federal courthouse in Davenport Tuesday morning. That's because a pending court case is drawing protestors from out-of-town.

The case stems from a break-in at a research lab at the University of Iowa in 2004. Masked intruders broke into the lab and removed 300 lab animals. They also spray-painted graffiti on the walls, poured out chemicals and damaged computers. An animal rights group claimed responsibility and even released a videotape of the break-in.

Now, a grand jury is hearing evidence in the case. That drew protestors from Minneapolis who demonstrated outside the courthouse. Members of Earth Warriors Are Okay say a couple of people from their earth and animal rights group have been summoned to testify before the grand jury. Protestors claim the witnesses had nothing to do with the Iowa break-in and say the government is using the grand jury process to target activists and generate intelligence on these groups.

Police watched as the protest went on peacefully.
