Seniors Concerned About Medicare Portion Of Health Care Reform

Updated:

Some senior citizens at the Center for Active Seniors in Davenport are concerned about cuts in Medicare spending to help pay for health care reform. Those cuts are included in the health care reform bill  proposed by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid.

Janice Dorgan lives on a fixed income. She wonders if cuts to Medicare will jeopardize her health coverage.

Tony Hamilton says Congress is in a big rush to get something passed. He plans to keep his private health insurance and wants nothing to do with a public option plan.

Carol Carroll is a breast cancer survivor. She is glad that the Senate bill prevents insurance companies from denying health care coverage to people with a pre-existing medical condition.

The Senate version of health care reform is a ten year, 848 billion dollar proposal.

Iowa Senator Charles Grassley does not think Congress can get a health care reform bill passed before the end of the year.
