Fulton Police are looking for a rape suspect who assaulted a woman at gunpoint. The suspect is describe as a black male, early to mid 20's. He's between 5'8 and 6 feet tall, with a thin build. The suspect has black hair, brown eyes, and no facial hair.

The rape has people in Whiteside County town on edge. People and the Fulton police say they haven't had a violent crime like this in more than a decade. Having a suspect break into a locked home and allegedly rape a women has everyone on edge."It's just scary to think that anyone can come break into our homes," says Marge Hook. "This town has always been really nice and everything. People's always been really friendly, so something happening in town like that isn't right," adds Howie Selhosv.

As people in Fulton wait for a suspect to be arrested. Police say they're doing everything they can to solve the case that started early Tuesday morning. "The suspect entered her locked residence and was threatened with a fire arm and sexually assaulted," says Lt. Donnie Pridemore with the Fulton Police.

The victim was treated at a Clinton hospital. But that's not all that happened across the river that night. Police say there was another armed robbery, but no one was injured. "There is another one going in a neighboring jurisdiction. We don't know if it's related," adds Lt. Pridemore.

Until a suspect is caught, police are warning everyone in Fulton and the surrounding areas to lock their doors. According to Lt. Pridemore, "They need to pay attention to what's going on in their neighborhood's. Any suspicious activity, vehicles, persons they don't seem to recognize that don't belong in their neighborhood."

And people say their not only doing that, but making sure they're taking every precaution they can. "My wife, she would get up early in the morning and go walking before it got light out so she would have her whole day ahead of here, now she's a little early doing it," adds Selhosv.
