AMES, Iowa (AP) - Ames police have released the names of 2 people killed in a crash on U.S. Highway 30 near Ames earlier this week.

Police say 78-year-old Richard Long, of Ames, and 54-year-old Benjamin Howe, of Boone, were pronounced dead at the scene following Wednesday's accident.

Police spokesman Cmdr. Mike Brennan says Long was driving east in the westbound lane when the collision occurred.
