Newlyweds' deaths ruled murder-suicide

Associated Press - November 27, 2009 9:14 PM ET

CHICAGO (AP) - Cook County authorities say the deaths of a Chicago couple who had been married less than two months appear to have been murder-suicide.

Police say they found the body of 28-year-old Antwone Coleman lying in on a West Side street late Thursday.

As officers investigated, they found the body of Coleman's 30-year-old his wife, Claudette, in the couple's third-floor apartment.

The Cook County Medical Examiner's office says autopsy results released Friday showed Antwone Coleman died of a gunshot wound to his head, and his wife died of multiple gunshot wounds. His death was ruled a suicide and hers a homicide.

Police said Antwone Coleman had a criminal record that included convictions for domestic battery and aggravated battery to a police officer. He was also a registered sex offender.
