CENTREVILLE, Ill. (AP) - A city worker in the southwestern Illinois town of Centreville with nearly 100 arrests on his record is in trouble again, this time for allegedly punching a police officer in the face.
St. Clair County prosecutors charged 51-year-old Centreville street department worker George Roberts Jr. after authorities say he led police on a car chase Nov. 22, then punched Centreville policeman Jerry Davis.
Roberts is jailed in Belleville on $50,000 bond.
Court records show Roberts has been sentenced to prison at least three times in St. Clair County, including on convictions of felony domestic battery, aggravated battery with a firearm and armed violence and burglary.
A message left Tuesday at a home listing for Roberts was not immediately returned.
