Mediacom E-mail Problems

Updated:

Slow servers, login's denied, and undelivered mail. It's a problem leaving thousands of Mediacom E-mail users without a vital link to their jobs, and personal lives. E-mail issues started in the middle of last week. For some nothing has been resolved, and it's not just access to e-mail, SPAM is also filling up inboxes.

"I tried to log in, I couldn't log in. And it took a couple of days." After Jen Wuben could finally access her e-mail, her inbox wasn't as full as it should be, "A bunch of my e-mails weren't coming in for several days."

She called tech support and was told the issue was on the companies end. And Mediacom was working on fixing it. "It really was a problem because I was in the middle of holiday shopping online and some e-bay purchases I couldn't get my communication," adds Wuben.

Wuben finally received all her missing e-mails. But that's not all she found in her inbox. Wuben says, "I have like way more SPAM now. I never had this much SPAM before and some of it's disgusting."

A Mediacom spokesperson says the company upgrading their servers is the source of the problem. "The spammers see those new servers and recognize that as the new walls and the new fortress to go and try to conquer," says Phyllis Peters, Mediacom's Spokesperson.

Having spammers target the system slows everything down. Peters says technicians are working on eliminating spam and reinforcing the system, "With additional servers, additional hardware, but most importantly we've gone out and got the very best solutions."

Wuben is trying to solve the spam problem. "I put it in junk and it still keeps coming." And she's trying to figure out if there's a better way to get her email, "I'm trying to decide if I want to deal with Mediacom for my email or switch to Hotmail or something like that."

If your are still experiencing some of the major issues, like lost mail or not being able to log in, Mediacom is recommending you call tech support to fix the problem.
