Officials are investigating an early morning fire at a Rock Island trucking company where one person died.
The call for help came in around 4:30 Tuesday morning at USF Holland at 8401 51st Street W. in south Rock Island. When firefighters got there, they found two tractor-trailers on fire and an employee unaccounted for. The victim was located inside one of the semi cabs after the fire was put out. The victim's name has not been released while family is being notified.
Officials say damage estimates on the two vehicles is in excess of $300,000, but the huge fire didn't spread to the loading dock because a sprinkler system was activated.
The police and fire departments as well as the Rock Island County Coroner are investigating the cause of death and the cause of the fire.
