Two Deadly Shootings In Rock Island

Updated:

Two deadly shootings in Rock Island, IL. Two men are dead, one woman is hurt, and police are looking for the person or people responsible.

Police say they were called to two separate homes in Rock Island, for deadly shootings, within four hours.

The most recent shooting happened on Fifth Street and Fourteenth Avenue at 1:12 AM on Sunday.

The first shooting happened in the area of Eighth Street and Eleventh Avenue, around 9:30 PM on Saturday.

At the first shooting, on Eighth Street and Eleventh Avenue, there were reports of multiple gun shots. Officers say when the arrived at the shooting they found a nineteen-year-old male from Rock Island, injured. He was transported to Trinity Medical Center and later died from his injuries.

When officers arrived on scene for the second shooting, on Fifth Street and Fourteenth Avenue, they found another nineteen-year-old man injured. He was also transported to Trinity Medical Center, and then later died from his injuries.

A second victim, a seventeen-year-old female from East Moline was also transported to Trinity with injuries from the same incident, but police say she is currently in stable condition.

The names of these victims are not being released at this time due to notification of relatives.

Neighbors KWQC spoke with today were reluctant to talk on camera, out of fear. They say they heard the gun shots late last night and do not know who is responsible.

Neighbors say this has been happening frequently in their neighborhood, and they have been afraid to leave their homes. Other neighbors say they hope parents take their children else where to trick-or-treat because the neighborhood is not safe.

Police tell me that they are working to determine whether or not the two shootings are related.

Rock Island detectives are investigating both shootings and are asking for your help. If you have any information about either case, call the Rock Island Police Department or Crime Stoppers.
