Through the years we have received thousands of phone calls, e-mails and letters with various questions. To assist our viewers, we have compiled a list of the most frequently asked questions.
Question - I have a question, comment, concern or criticism for KWQC-TV6. How do I reach you with that information?
Answer - There are a number of ways that you can contact the station. You can call (563)383-7000 and follow the prompts to the various departments.
You can e-mail the station by using the form on our web site or through our mailbox at mailto:news@kwqc.com. E-mails are answered, if a correct e-mail address is entered.

Question - I have an idea or tip for a news story. How do I relay that information to the KWQC-TV6 News Department?
Answer - There are three options for relaying news information. You can call the KWQC-TV6 News Department at (563)823-NEWS (5972); you can fax the News Department at (563) 383-7131. You can also send us the information via email at news@kwqc.com.
Question - On Paula Sands Live and other shows you frequently have chefs preparing recipes. How can I obtain these recipes?
Answer - Most of the chefs are very gracious about sharing their recipes. As soon as we receive the recipe we post it on our web site. You can retrieve those recipes by going to http://www.kwqc.com/ and clicking on Recipes. There are directions there for searching and copying and pasting recipes. If you do not have Internet access you can request a recipe through the mail by sending us a stamped self-addresses envelope. Please indicate on the outside of the envelope which recipe you are requesting.
Question - I need a VHS or DVD copy of a newscast that aired recently. How do I get a copy?
Answer - Due to the large volume of requests that we receive we are no longer able to make copies for viewers. There is a local company that does tape all of our newscasts and you can purchase a copy through them. The company's name is Keepsake Video and their phone number is (309)786-4378. You can click on the Contact KWQC-TV6 button on our web site and there is a downloadable form to order a newscast tape or you can mail the information to Keepsake Video at 3424 20th Street Court, Rock Island, IL 61201.
Please include your name, address, phone number, date and time of the newscast and a brief description of the story. Please include a check or money order for $25 per newscast. Remember copies are only available for 90 days following the broadcast so send in your order as early as possible. Copies are only available for KWQC-TV6 produced programs.
Question - How can I find out whether my child's school is closed due to bad weather?
Answer - KWQC-TV6 has an automated school closing system for school administrators. This system allows them to quickly and accurately enter information regarding late starts, earl dismissals, cancellations and changes in bus routes. As soon as that information is keyed in by the school administrator it is transferred to the school closing banner which runs across the bottom of your television screen. The information is also transferred to our web site at - this allows you easy access if you are at work.
Question - I have a question regarding an NBC program that aired on NBC. Who can I contact for information?
Answer - Some programming information can be accessed on the NBC web site at http://www.nbc.com/. If you can not obtain the information through the web site, you can call (212) 664-2333 or you can write to:

Unfortunately NBC receives an enormous amount of mail and many times they are unable to answer individual requests.

Question - I am interested in working at KWQC-TV6. How do I find out about job openings?
Answer - KWQC-TV6 accepts applications and resumes for current job openings. Only current job openings are posted on the KWQC-TV6 web site under Contact KWQC, advertised on KWQC-TV6 and are placed in the classified section of the Quad City Times. Job openings are also sent to over 100 minority organizations and educational institutions throughout the region.
Question - I am currently in college and I would like to intern at KWQC-TV6. Do you have internships available?
Answer - KWQC-TV6 does have an Internship Program and each department manager is responsible for working with applicants based on availability, experience and the department's current needs.
You must be enrolled in college and receive college credit for the internship. KWQC-TV6 internships are non-paying positions. If you are interested in pursing an internship please call KWQC-TV6 during business hours and ask to speak to the manager of the department that you are interested in interning in.
Question - Our organization is holding a community event and we are interested in having it added to the KWQC-TV6 Community Calendar. How do we submit the information?

Question - Where can I find a programming schedule for KWQC-TV6?
Answer - There are several places where you can find programming information. You can visit the KWQC-TV6 web site at www.kwqc.com and click on the Program Guide. You can also find programming information in the Quad City Times "TV Times" and in the "TV Guide."
Question: How can I get tickets to popular show such as Oprah and Saturday Night Live?
Answer: Oprah is one of the hardest to get tickets to. Tickets are available by phone and when no tickets are available the phone lines are closed. You can visit www.oprah.com and click on reservation information to receive the current ticket availability and phone number information.
Tickets for the The Tonight Show with Jay Leno are available only through the mail. To order, send a stamped self-addressed envelope with a brief letter listing the desired date of taping and three alternative dates.
You may request up to four tickets, but seating is limited. Audience members must be at least 16 years old. If tickets are available they will be mailed to you approximately 2-3 weeks prior to the taping date. Ticket requests should be submitted at least 6 weeks in advance.

Question: I would like to become a contestant on a show. Where can I get information for becoming a contestant?
Answer: Websites are the easiest way to get contestant information. The show websites include information on how to become a contestant and also application forms. For The Apprentice and The Biggest Loser visit www.nbc.com. Both of these shows have limited time frames that they accept applications so check the website frequently for updated information.
For Wheel of Fortune tryouts visit and www.wheeloffortune.com and for Jeopardy tryouts visit www.jeopardy.com. Both shows travel throughout the country doing auditions; all contestants are selected from live auditions.
Who Wants To Be A Millionaire also conducts auditions but you must travel to New York City for the audition. You can get an application form and more information at www.millionairetv.com.
