DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) — Norm Bower likes to have some good natured fun. The Davenport man is a Notre Dame graduate. His wife graduated from Purdue. Both grew up in Indiana.
They are also avid college football fans. He loves the Irish. She pledges her allegiance to Purdue. So, on game days Bower jokingly refers to the family’s residence as “a house divided.”
Norm definitely gets with the program! He turns the pages on a marvelous collection of Notre Dame and Purdue football programs. He has about one hundred fifty in a vintage collection. Forty to fifty are from the Notre Dame-Purdue matchups.
The covers feature Joe Montana, Johnny Lujack, Paul Hornung and other Irish greats. Colorful and creative covers. Some done in cartoon style.
One of Norm’s greatest memories is when the Irish beat Miami in 1988. That meant Notre Dame was going to be national champs. Bower and his dad went to that game.
Footballs, photos, and caps are also on display In the Bower home. Fighting Irish and Boilermaker fans who enjoy the rivalries in this “house divided.”
