DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) – City Council candidates from contested wards will be attending an information forum to address the public on Thursday, October 19 at the Rogalski Center on the St. Ambrose University campus. The event is to begin at 6:30 pm and run until 8 pm. Doors will open at 6:00 pm. It is free and open to the public.
St. Ambrose University is hosting the event, which is sponsored by the Hilltop Campus Village and the People Uniting Neighborhood Churches (PUNCH) group.
The goal of the forum is to acquaint interested members of the public with those running for office, letting them know of their experience, their reasons for running and their priorities.
All four of the alderman-at-large candidates are planning to attend, along with candidates from wards 2, 3, 4, and 6. Those unopposed have also been invited.
The event will include a welcome from PJ Foley, Director of Government and Community Relations for St. Ambrose. The moderator will be Jenna Jackson from KWQC-TV6. The format will include written questions from the audience. The Hilltop Campus Village and PUNCH will be providing information sheets on the candidates.
“There is no political or issue-driven agenda here,” Said Hilltop Campus Village Director Scott Tunnicliff, “beyond encouraging people to inform themselves and cast votes in local elections. That is where a citizen’s voice is most easily heard.”
