DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) — It's a beautiful way to ring in the Christmas Holiday season. Jim Bawden is the director of the RiverBend Bronze Bell Choir. The gifted ringers bring out the best in the bells.
The choir is in its fifth season. Several of the members are from different churches in the area. They are among the cream of the crop.
The choir is preparing for its Christmas Tour. One stop will be at Saint John Methodist Church in Davenport on November 26th at 4pm.
The choir practices weekly at 15th Avenue Christian Church in Rock Island. Practices typically last two and a half hours.
Members say they are not trying to imitate the human voice. They are not going to do what a band or orchestra does. Instead, the bells have their own unique sound. It's like an assembly line of rhythm. The musicians look down the line and make sure they are ringing together.
The First Noel, O Come All Ye Faithful, and Go Tell It On The Mountain are among the Christmas classics they play.
Bronze is beautiful! Especially when this bell choir rings!
