MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) — Work continues to transform John Deere Road from four lanes to six lanes. Two-lane traffic will occur on the majority of the road beginning April 17th, 2017. Drivers will see a shift as traffic controls are set for head to head traffic.
Construction on John Deere Road continues to be hectic. Local residents are saying the project is making them avoid the area. Jacob Eaton of Geneseo, Illinois says the John Deere Road work is a challenge to get around.
However, he believes the project is a great benefit to the city of Moline.
Beginning on Monday morning, westbound 1-74 exit ramp will be closed.
Drivers will have to take the detour eastbound to get where they are going. The biggest change for the construction is the two lane road from I-74 to 70th street.
Traffic times of the project will begin at 10 AM. The Department of Transportation says traffic devices will get set up during the hours of 7 PM to 11 PM, weather permitting.
They advise drivers to be cautious around those hours.
KWQC will provide updates on the project will be as they occur.
