Driver in fatal Carroll County accident ID'd as 16-year-old from Forreston, Ill.-UPDATED

CARROLL COUNTY, Ill. (KWQC) — UPDATE: Officials have identified the driver killed in the early morning crash as 16-year-old Drew Crase of Forreston, Ill.

ORIGINAL: Sheriff's officials were called to the scene of a fatal one car accident early Monday morning, November 13. The accident happened on Illinois Route 73, about a half mile north of the junction with Illinois Route 73, north of Lanark, Ill., around 12:40 a.m.

Officials say the car was heading southbound when it drove off the road, hit a driveway culvert and went airborne. The car came to rest upside down in a pond.

The driver was pronounced dead at the scene by the Carroll County Coroner Matt Jones. There was no one else in the car at the time of the accident. The driver's identity is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
