Iowa City police investigate armed robbery

IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG-TV9) -- Iowa City police are looking for the suspects involved in an armed robbery over the weekend.

Police responded to the area near the 1900 block of Broadway Street and the 1100 block of Hollywood Boulevard on Sunday at about 9 p.m.

The Iowa City Police Department said officers found a victim who told police that he was approached by two men.

One demanded his wallet and another was heard possibly manipulating a handgun.

According to police, the suspects are described as black males, both approximately 6 foot tall with long dreadlocks. Both suspects were wearing black hoodies.

One wore dark pants and the other was wearing light colored pants. The two males were part of a group of approximately five men who ran from the scene after the robbery.

Police are asking for the public's help in identifying the suspects.

Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information.
