Man faces multiple charges after shots fired incidents in Davenport

DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - On Wednesday, Nov. 8 just before 1 a.m. Davenport Police responded to the area of Lincoln and Boies Avenue in reference to a shots fired. A witness to the incident told police a silver Saturn was involved in the shooting.

The alleged suspect, 24-year-old Cameron Smith of Davenport, was later located exiting and standing next to a silver Saturn that matched the suspect vehicle.

Police patted down Smith and during the patdown, officers located a black and silver Smith and Wesson P95 Pistol. The pistol was tucked into the front of Smith's waistband. Smith has prior felony convictions, one being on March 12, 2012, where he was sentenced to two years in prison with a felony charge of assault while displaying a deadly weapon.

A records check in NCIC revealed the pistol Smith had on him was stolen on Feb. 10, 2017, in Rock Island County. Smith had no right license of privilege to the pistol, he does not have his rights reinstated.

A consent search of the car Smith was standing next to was granted and police found drugs inside the car.

Inside the car: one small glass jar containing .65 grams of methamphetamine, one baggie containing .50 grams of methamphetamine, another bag containing 2.17 grams that contained five smaller "rocks". The methamphetamine was tested and confirmed with a Nartec test. The amount found is more than personal use and consistent with sales of narcotics.

Also found was a baggie containing 10 white oval pills, the pills are 50 milligrams of Tramadol, a schedule 4 narcotic. Smith did not have a valid prescription, the amount found is consistent with sales of narcotics.

Police also found one gram of marijuana in an orange pill bottle. The marijuana also tested positive with a Valtox test kit.

There was also a working digital scale found that had loose methamphetamine on the tray and packing material inside of the car.

Smith is also being charged with an incident that occurred on Monday, Nov. 6 in the 200 block of Pine Street. Smith was operating a vehicle and allegedly fired at least three shots at a passing vehicle.

Smith is facing charges of domestic assault with injury and obstruction, misdemeanor charges. Possession with intent to deliver, two counts of felon in possession of a firearm and intimidation with a dangerous weapon, all felony charges. He also faces another felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a controlled substance, possession with intento to deliver and trafficking stolen weapons.
