Suspected Mercer County counterfeiter identified-UPDATED

MERCER COUNTY, Ill. (KWQC) — UPDATE 5/19/17: Officials with the Mercer County Crime Stoppers say the suspect in the counterfeit investigation has been identified.

The Aledo Police say the case is still under investigation and have not named the suspect.

ORIGINAL: The Mercer County Crime Stoppers are asking for help in identifying a suspected counterfeiter.

Police say the suspected female entered a business on Tuesday May 16, around 3 p.m., and made a purchase using counterfeit currency.

Anyone with information should contact the Mercer County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-582-2762 or 309-582-3500.

If your information leads to the arrest of this person, or persons involved in other crimes a cash reward of up to $1000 dollars will be paid to you in a confidential manner.
