Mobile apps to aid in giving back

WASHINGTON, D.C. (NBC) — Several apps in the app store for Android and iOS are doing their part to help you turn your everyday tasks into the common good.

Charity Miles takes your walking, running and biking workouts via your phone's pedometer and turns them into small amounts of cash, which you can donate to over 40 charities.

Donate a Photo, from Johnson & Johnson, utilizes a function we use every day: taking photos. For one photo a day shared on the application, Johnson & Johnson will donate a $1 to the charity of your choice.

The United Nations-based app Share the Meal allows users to donate as little as 50 cents to a hungry child in need while showing exactly where their dollars and cents are going.
