MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) Strong thunderstorms moved through the region on Saturday evening and produced heavy rain around the TV6 viewing area.

According to the National Weather Service of the Quad Cities, a record rainfall occurred in Moline, Illinois on October 14. The new record rain of 3.38" broke the previous record of 2.27" which was set back in 1886.

Since October 13, a widespread 1-5" inches of rain has fallen around the area. This is good news, considering both sides of the river are experiencing abnormally dry to moderate drought conditions.
