GALESBURG, Ill. (KWQC) — Officials confiscated over 22 pounds of marijuana after an arrest at the Galesburg Amtrak Station. The Knox County Sheriff's Department says a deputy was conducting a routine check on Thursday afternoon, November 9, around 2:12 p.m.
While passengers were exiting the train, the deputy asked one of the passengers a few questions about his travel. The passenger gave the deputy permission to search his luggage. As a result of the search, the deputy found 10,427 grams of marijuana (22.9 pounds). Officials say the estimated value is $100,000.
Sheriff's officials arrested 59-year-old Sing Sengon of Sacremento, Calif. and charged him with with cannabis trafficking over 5,000 grams and manufacturing/delivery of cannabis over 5,000 grams.
