Lanes on 5th Avenue in Rock Island set to reopen next week

Rock Island, ILLINOIS (KWQC) Public Works officials in Rock Island say work on the 5th Avenue paving project should be complete by next week.

The Public Works Director said Thursday that, according to the contractor, paving and striping should be complete no later than mid-week next week.

He says one lane will have to remain closed due to a small repair needed to correct a change in elevations between two sections of roadway and make it as smooth as possible.

He says all lanes, with the exception of the lane needing additional repair, should be open to traffic by mid-week at the latest.

He says the project will then continue south on 27th Street towards 7th Avenue.
