Terrorism hearing postponed

Associated Press - November 9, 2009 5:44 PM ET

CHICAGO (AP) - A federal magistrate judge has postponed a bond hearing for a Chicago man accused of helping to plan a terrorist attack on a Danish newspaper that published cartoons depicting the Prophet Muhammad.

The cartoons unleashed outrage in the Muslim world.

Tahawwur Rana's bond hearing had been set for Tuesday, but Magistrate Judge Nan Nolan on Monday postponed it until Nov. 19.

Prosecutors said the action was taken "at the request of counsel." Rana's attorney, Patrick Blegen, said Monday he was studying fresh court papers filed by prosecutors saying al Qaida videos including one featuring Osama bin Laden were found in a search of Rana's home.

Rana is charged with making travel arrangements for another man who scouted the Danish newspaper in preparation for an attack.
