St. Ambrose students spent the day hosting their own Souper Bowl at Christ the King Chapel on campus.

They stood outside the doors before Mass collecting money that will later go to the Churches United Food Pantry. Organizers say the annual event is designed to remind students and residents that while they're enjoying the game and the goodies that go with it, many others in our area aren't as fortunate.

"It's really important for us to remember that despite all the money being spent on a football game and parties, a lot of people are going to bed hungry tonight," says Stella O'Rourke, a campus minister at St. Ambrose.

This is the 21st year for the Souper Bowl of Caring. Organizers say they're hoping to raise more than $300.
