CHICAGO (AP) - Mayor Richard Daley has announced a program to provide current health care workers with the education they need to move up in their organizations, creating job opportunities for new workers.
The program is called "School at Work" and is funded with $176,544 from the federal economic stimulus program.
An eight-month online curriculum is serving 150 employees at 13 local hospitals. Each participating hospital identifies employees for participation.
The curriculum focuses on health care and concentrates on English and math skills. Participants who complete the work will be encouraged to enroll in courses to get additional certification or degrees in health care.
