St. Patrick's Day Parade

Updated:

St. Patrick's Day isn't until Tuesday. but that didn't stop thousands of Quad Citians from getting an early start on celebrating on Saturday.

Many lining the streets of the District of Rock Island for the annual St. Patrick's Day Parade starting in Illinois and ending in Iowa in downtown Davenport.

It's put on each year by the St. Patrick's Society, and is the only one in the country that covers two states.

Residents say it's a great way to get into the Irish spirit.

"I think they're wonderful," says Bill Egger. "People do a lot to go out there and do this. It's great for the whole community."

And a reminder, if you are out celebrating, area police will be out as well cracking down on drunk drivers.
