CHICAGO (AP) - Zach Walters hit a two-run home run in the 10th inning to lift the Cleveland Indians to an 8-6 victory over the sliding Chicago White Sox last night. Bryan Shaw pitched 2 1-3 scoreless innings in relief for the win. Chicago lost its seventh straight and saw Jake Petricka give up a go-ahead home run in his second consecutive appearance.
CINCINNATI (AP) - Travis Wood pitched six innings of two-hit ball as the Chicago Cubs to a 3-0 victory over Johnny Cueto and the Cincinnati Reds last night. Arismendy Alcantara hit a two-run shot and Anthony Rizzo connected for his 30th homer for the Cubs. Wood struck out five and walked one.
PITTSBURGH (AP) - Pinch-hitter Ike Davis launched a tiebreaking, three-run homer off Seth Maness in the eighth inning last night to lift the Pittsburgh Pirates over the St. Louis Cardinals 5-2. The Pirates won after reigning NL MVP Andrew McCutchen left in the fifth inning because of discomfort in his left ribs. The center fielder ran into the wall earlier in the game.
ATLANTA (AP) - Elena Delle Donne (DEHL'-uh dahn) scored 34 points as the Chicago Sky rallied from 20 points down to beat the Atlanta Dream 81-80 last night to advance to the Eastern Conference finals. Tamera Young scored 16 points. Sylvia Fowles added 13 points and 15 rebounds as the Sky won a playoff series for the first time in franchise history.
