Bettendorf Drug Bust Arrest

A calm neighborhood in Bettendorf was the site of a major drug bust by Scott County and Bettendorf Police Tuesday night. It happened at around 5 p.m. on Woodfield Drive.

Neighbors tell KWQC they're shocked by what happened in their quiet neighborhood. 19-year old Maxwell McCarty was arrested in his home shortly before 8 p.m. Tuesday. He was booked at Scott County Jail and released Wednesday morning just after 9 a.m.

Police say it was part of a large drug bust, exactly what drugs and how much were found are not being released by police.

McCarty was charged with four crimes including two felonies, conspiracy and possession with intent to deliver.

Neighbors say it happened around 5 p.m. Tuesday when a total of five officers and at least one drug-sniffing dog arrived at the home. Neighbors told us police were at the home for nearly four hours, searching the home and cars outside. They say three teenagers were actually involved, but only McCarty was arrested.

According to police, this is an ongoing investigation by a special operations unit with Scott County Sheriff's Department. They say the case may also be related to others in the Quad Cities area.

McCarty was released on $5,000 bond and has no prior arrests, according to court records.
