A Lost Nation man was sentenced Thursday on federal child pornography charges. Stemming from an arrest made in November of 2010, 24-year-old Jason Tyler Potter was sentenced to 188 months imprisonment for receiving and distributing child pornography. The court also ordered that Potter serve a term of supervised release of ten years following his sentence and pay an assessment of $100 to Crime Victims Fund.

The court report states that on November 19, 2010, the Scott County, Iowa, Sheriff's Office, while conducting a peer to peer undercover investigation of trafficking in child pornography and identified an Internet protocol address with child pornography available for download via file-sharing software. Deputies downloaded seven child pornography videos from this suspect.

The IP address was then linked with Potter's residence in Lost Nation where a search warrant was executed on January 28, 2011. After waiving his Miranda rights, Potter admitted that he was involved in searching for child pornography on the Internet. An analysis of his computer revealed numerous child pornography images and videos.
