Swamped Boat Causes Concern Near Arsenal Golf Course

Updated:

Three people had an unwanted swim in the Mississippi river Tuesday morning when their boat encountered problems and sank.

According to Eric Cramer from the Rock Island Arsenal, two kids and an adult were fishing near the Arsenal Golf Course when their anchor became hung up as they were trying to release it. The boat became swamped with water and started to sink.

Officials say the occupants were wearing life jackets and were able to get to shore.

RIA emergency crews responded when the call came in at 8:23 a.m. and tell KWQC the incident was over by 9:15 a.m.

Officials say that everyone is okay and the arsenal is working with the Corps of Engineers to get the boat out of the water.
