UPDATE: Monday afternoon a body was discovered near the Mississippi River in Rock Island. Rock Island Police announced on Tuesday that based on autopsy results, the death is now being investigated as a homicide. The Rock Island County Coroner reports the name of the deceased as 51-year-old Alan K. Porter of Rock Island. The report states that porter died as a result of "traumatic injuries of a suspicious nature."

The Rock Island Police Department received a 911 call on Monday afternoon from a bicyclist reporting a possibly deceased person next to the bike path along the river between the Centennial & Crescent Bridges.

According to reports, officers located an unidentified deceased adult male and are treating the death as suspicious in nature. The incident remains under investigation. An autopsy was scheduled for Tuesday morning in an effort to determine the cause of death.
