Authorities are on the lookout for an inmate who has escaped from a work release facility in Burlington.

The Iowa Department of Corrections says 32-year-old Maurice Lee Carl Lewis didn't return to the facility after a scheduled meeting on June 13.

He was serving a 5-year-sentence for domestic abuse out of Des Moines County.

He is described as an African American, black hair and brown eyes, 6' 1" tall and 237 lbs. He also has tattoo's on the both arms, chest, left forearm and neck.

Lewis was transferred to work release on February 16, 2012. His sentence began in August, 2010.

Anyone with information should contact the Burlington Police Department or Des Moines County Sheriff's Department.
