With the June heat wave, the Center for Active Seniors is making the following request for donations of new fans and air conditioners:

Seniors are at of risk heat exhaustion in our community, especially those with chronic health conditions, metal impairments, obesity or living alone.  Many of the seniors living in the Quad City area do not have A/C or cannot afford to run air conditioning, leaving them at extremely high risk of heat exhaustion and related health concerns.

CASI (Center for Active Seniors, Inc.) is accepting new fans in original box or cash donations to Quad City seniors in need.

The Senior Advocates encourage friends, family and neighbors to check on elderly adults more frequently during these extreme days of heat.   Signs of heat related problems may be: cramping in legs or abdomen, heavy sweating, nausea, headaches, dizziness, or confusion, seek medical attention if any of these signs occur. If person is vomiting, refusing water or loses consciousness call 9-1-1 immediately

Donations can be dropped off at CASI, 1035 West Kimberly Road, Davenport, Iowa.  CASI is open Monday-Friday, 8am to 5pm.  563-386-7477 www.CasiSeniors.org.
