DAVENPORT, IA - Police have released a photo showing a man suspected in two attempted sexual assaults in late May in the west end of Davenport.

The incidents happened less than an hour apart and within a half mile of each other.  The first occurred at the Smart Tunnel on Howell Street; 45 minutes later, the second occurred near 1900 West Third Street.

Both female victims who are in their early teens were able to escape.

Police on Wednesday released a surveillance photo showing the suspect trailing the first victim moments before she was attacked (KWQC cropped the victim out of the photo per police request).  The photo shows the suspect "following the first victim west in the 2100 block of W. 3rd St.," according to Davenport Police Captain David Struckman.  "He assaults her in the 2200 block of W. 3rd St."  Police say this is the best image they have of the suspect.

Davenport Police in late May went door-to-door in the area of the attacks seeking information.  So far, no suspect has been arrested.  Detectives hope someone recognizing the suspect in the surveillance photo will help crack the case.

One of the victims told police the suspect has a right forearm tattoo which police describe as having "jagged edges like lightning or a flame, black ink."  Struckman also notes that in the newly-released photo "you can see what appears to be an upper back tattoo exposed."

The suspect is a white male between 20 and 25 years old.  Police say he's around 5'9" with a thin build.

Anyone with information is asked to call Davenport Police.
