An Iowa prison inmate serving time for a brutal Davenport murder has died.

Rick Dwayne Nebinger was serving a life sentence for the 1985 killing of seventy-nine-year-old Floyd Brown. Brown's body was found bound and repeatedly stabbed in a bedroom of his Davenport home. There was also evidence that Brown's home had been robbed.

Nebinger was serving concurrent terms of life imprisonment and twenty-five years for his crimes. He began his prison sentence on June 25th, 1985 and died of stomach cancer on Tuesday, the day after the 27th anniversary of his incarceration. Nebinger was 51 years old.
