Sears Holdings Corp. has confirmed that the Kmart in Burlington is closing. The company says it is not renewing its lease, because of issues with the landlord and the performance of the store.
50 employees work there. They will be notified of other Sears and Kmart store positions, but will still have to apply.
This is a part of the announcement earlier this year that several Sears and Kmart stores would be closing. A store in west Davenport also closed.
Liquidation on the Burlington Kmart will start on July 8. The store will close by the end of September.
