A four hour long standoff ended in Camanche, IA Saturday night with the suspect tazed and then apprehended by police.

Just before 4 p.m. law enforcement were called to 9th Street and 37th Avenue after a report of a domestic disturbance.

An injured woman was discovered and then rushed to Mercy Hospital with non life threatening injuries.

The man then barricaded himself inside a residence, threatening harm to not only himself but neighbors as well.

Camanche police headed up the negotiation process with assistance by Clinton County's tactical "H.E.A.T." unit as well as Iowa State Patrol.

Nearby fire departments helped block traffic and inform residents to stay inside and out of harms way.

After the man was arrested he was sent to a nearby hospital for a mental evaluation.

The names of the individuals involved are not being released.

"When you have a subject in crisis, it takes a while to get them to see the positive things and to get them to make the right decision. The main focus is saving lives and getting them to tomorrow maybe tomorrow will be a better day," Sgt. Jose Varela of the Iowa State Patrol told KWQC.

This is a developing story.
