Davenport: Three Fires Keep Crews Busy

Updated:

Three separate house fires in Davenport kept firefighters on their toes over the weekend. Crews responded to the 2800 block of Tremont Sunday night. When they arrived, they found heavy smoke and fire on the outside as well as inside the home.

A separate crew had to fight flames that spread to the house next door, causing damage there.

District Chief Robbie Minnaert said the fire caused "significant damage because of the closeness of the homes. If we wouldn't been contacted sooner both homes would have been fully involved."

No one was hurt in the blaze. The Red Cross is helping the family who lives here. Firefighters are still investigating the cause of the fire.

Another fire in Davenport happened early Sunday morning.

Just after midnight, flames broke out at a duplex in the 2800 block of Telegraph Rd. Firefighters say it was a small electrical fire. They were able to get the flames out quickly.

The house looks fine from the outside but Red Cross workers say it's not livable inside.

Volunteers are helping two adults and four children. One child is just seven months old.

Red Cross workers say since Thursday, they've helped 14 families impacted by fires. They're still helping the families involved in an apartment fire that occurred in Princeton, Illinois on Friday.
