Muscatine Makes Multiple Arrests In Theft Cases

Several incidents of burglary and thefts have occurred in Muscatine, IA within the past month and with the help of the community, the Muscatine Police say they finding the ones responsible.

According to police reports, in the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 10th, the Muscatine Police Department responded to the 1000 block of Climer Street in Muscatine in report of suspicious activity. Upon arrival, police made contact with two suspects who police determined were committing burglaries to cars and residences in the area.

An investigation ensued, resulting in the arrest of 18-year-old Zachary Braasch. Braasch was charged with three counts of burglary in the 3rd degree and one count of attempted burglary 3rd degree. Braasch is currently being held in the Muscatine County Jail.

The second subject, a sixteen year old juvenile, was arrested and charged with the same offenses as Braash. That juvenile was released to a guardian.

On Monday, July 9th, the Muscatine Police Department culminated a month long burglary investigation by arresting four juvenile who were involved in the burglary of the Muscatine Community Y, located at 1823 Logan St. in Muscatine. The four juveniles (ages 9,11,12,14) were all charged with burglary 3rd degree and subsequently released to a guardian.

In the early morning hours on Saturday, July 7th, Muscatine Police arrested a 17-year-old juvenile in the area of Indiana St. and Schley St. Police were called to the attention of the juvenile due to the juvenile's suspicious behavior leading police to arrest the juvenile for burglary 3rd degree, curfew and interference with official acts.

The night before, on Friday July 6th, Muscatine Police arrested a 14-year-old juvenile for theft in the second degree and curfew. The theft charge is a result of the juvenile being found in possession of items that were previously taken during a burglary which occurred on Climer St. back in June.

According to Police, the help from citizens has given them great success in making arrests in many of these cases.
