Updated:

A death investigation is in progress after body was found inside a home in Amboy, IL. Lee County Sheriff's Department deputies and Amboy Police Department officers are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of an elderly Amboy man who was found dead in his home on Wednesday evening after 7:30 p.m.

Investigators believe that 79-year-old Delmar Leroy Daniels died in his home on Main St. in Amboy. Daniel's wife, Betty, was also found in the residence. She was transported to Mendota Community Hospital by Amboy Fire and Rescue where she was treated for an unspecified condition and was released.

Amboy Police officers responded to the 911 call from family members after a relative found the couple in the home. The Daniels had not been seen for at least a day and family became concerned and went to check on the couple.

Crime Scene Investigators with the Illinois State Police arrived on scene and began processing the home for evidence. The cause of death is unknown at this time and an autopsy is being scheduled. Officials say that blood was found at the scene but no weapon was located.

Lee County Sheriff, John Varga says, "Investigators conducted interviews throughout the night and into the early morning hours of Thursday." He added they will "wait and see what additional information is available after the crime scene is processed."
